Permanent Resident card and Reg. certificate

Post by Fabgomes » Mon Aug 17, 2015 4:58 pm

Hello guys,
I hope you can give some light on two matters, as It would really make things clearer for me.
1- my 5year family member of an eea citizen will end next january. So i gotta apply for PR, right? Ok. Question: is better for me that my wife apply for a registration certificate BEFORE i apply for my PR? And can she use the express visa service and get an answer on the same day?
2- home office says I don't need to apply for PR because we are married for 14 years and she( italian) has worked here continuously for 5 and a half years now. They say she don't need to get a registration certificate either, as she holds a eea passport. Is that true? So how do i proof my status to employers and when entering the uk from a trip abroad? It's so confusing here....very dubious.
Finally: can she , in case she doesn't wanna apply at a service centre, send her application for registration certificate together with my application for PR?
Please....help me! Appreciate it!
Fab

registration certificate is useless for an EEA national.
She may as well apply for her PR along with you, you will have to show her paperwork anyway in case to obtain your PR so its just matter of filling the form in her name.

Thanks for your reply!
But yet they say I don't need anything....I don't buy it, and i will apply for PR.
So one more thing only: we need to enclose TWO applications on the same mail package right? Or is there a form where we can both apply on?
Never heard of an EEA living here for more 5 years needing a PR. Does she needs it, or its just to help my PR application? Thanks in advance!!

Hi Fabgomes

I think that the new July version of the EEA(PR) form only requires one form to be filled out for multiple applications and I believe the EEA National should be the main applicant, while the non-EEA spouse is then named as an additional applicant. This is what I believe to be the case and I have been waiting for confirmation from regulars on this board.

Please see the following thread:

Good luck!
