Hi,

No you just show them your British Passport at the time of application but they won't take it away from you. They only take it after your OCI has been accepted,so you have to go back to VFS to give it. They keep your passport for around a week after that.

I have tickets booked to fly out on 1st oct.... looks like this is not gonna come through by then...

does anyone know if I could apply fro a Tourist visa in parallel to the OCI applicaiton..?

Oh that's why, for some reason Birmingham have been too busy since June so everyone's been waiting 6 weeks to receive their original documents. Since your application was acknowledged on the 14th August, it will be the end of September now before you receive your documents. Then it's around another 4-5 weeks before your OCI card gets sent from India and your passport gets stamped etc.

right then... it looks like i will have to apply for a tourist visa now... hope they are not going to reject the tourist visa as I have another application pending

Yes you'll definitely have to apply for a tourist visa, don't worry it won't get rejected because of your OCI application. Alot of people apply for OCI and then have to get a tourist visa since their OCI won't get done in time.

It says 3-5 working days for the Tourist Visa... is that the case at Brum Misson or is that gonna take a few weeks as well.

If I were you, I would email VFS requesting the nature of the objection found in the application and if any more documents need to be supplied? If they wash their hands of you then I would email HCI directly and request the same. If neither works then tweet MEA and Sushma for a resolution

Well thats great to have some from fresh info... Did they at what rate they are moving forward..?? I applied on the 13th Aug.. so another week... hopefully they r not going to take another two-three weeks to start processing 13/08/15's originals.

No don't worry I don't think the Tourist visa has anything to do with the OCI side of things. Also, the Birmingham Public response number posted in the link above will only work between 10am-12pm and 2pm-4pm. They won't answer it between any other times.

Me and my partner are both OCI card holders, previously Indian passport holders, now British passport holders living in UK.
We are living together and not married as yet.
We no have a son only born in the UK a few months ago (holding british passport) and are applying for his OCI.
Do we need to be married for our son to be eligible for OCI?
His birth certificate states both our names as father and mother.
Any help much appreciated, as it says on guidance on website that the parents should be married, and we have no marriage certificate to show (as yet!).

Just to quote from VFS: "Minor children holding foreign nationality and whose both parents are citizens of India or one of the parents is a citizen of India or both or one parents are OCI card holder, are eligible for OCI Card" Guess your son is eligible if you hold a OCI card. I would email VFS to confirm
