EEA-PR: whatto do with missing P45s, P60s, etc?

Post by rooibos » Sun Sep 20, 2015 9:19 pm

Hello,

unfortunately some of the P45s of the period 2003-2008 have gone missing. My work experience in that period was not very stable. Some of the original documents have gone lost due to me moving accommodation quite often.

Some of the companies have gone out of business altogether, some are still there but might not have a record of so long ago.

From 2008-2013 I was mostly unemployed. I am not sure how well that would go with the Home Office and I would like to avoid showing that period.

In case I couldn't get hold of an official statement from the interested companies, would a printout of my bank account do? Does a standard printout of an online statement do or do they have to be stamped by the bank? (My bank charges me £5 per stamp, I kid you not!).

For one of the missing P45s, I could back it up with a fragment of a letter from the HMRC granting a tax rebate for the same year. One page is missing. Would that do?

I am really looking forward o your replies as I am going into panic mode.

Thanks

In the words of the immortal Corporal Jones: "Don't panic ... don't panic!"
(best said while running around like a headless chicken).

If I understand your post correctly you wish to apply for confirmation of PR acquired in UK during the period 2003 - 2008.

It appears a later period is not going to fly in terms of exercising treaty rights;
your PR clock likely stalled after 2008 due to extended periods of unemployment.
So records from 2003-2008 are vital.

As you appear to be thin on paperwork why not contact HMRC for a tax/NI history?

Not sure how far their records may go back or what they will show up but surely worth a shot.

Thanks. The link could possibly be this one:

But isn't it only to make a claim for compensation? And would they give me full 5 years of employment record?

There is a way to get HMRC records that are not just for 'compensation'.

There's more contact details for all sorts of histories in the link I shared (which is why I shared it).
Suggest contact 1 or more of them ()tomorrow) & ask.
