DLR to ILR

Hi,
I've been granted DLR for 2.5 years. I will complete 10 years of lawful residence in the UK in October 2014. I have a couple of questions regarding this:

1. After I have completed 10 years, can I apply for ILR at anytime afterwards? Or do I have to apply immediately?

2. Can I leave the country after completing the 10 years and apply for ILR after, say, a couple of years?

3. I am currently on a DLR and have applied for JSA since I am unemployed. My wife and I have been receiving Working and Child Tax credit as well as HB since approx. June 2012. This was due to the fact that my application for DLR had been outstanding with the UKBA since Feb 2012, and was only resolved completely in December 2013. I was sent a letter stating that I cannot have access to public funds under the terms of this DLR. We are planning to request the HMRC and local council to cancel these benefits now. How will this affect my ILR application?

4. Is it true that there is a provision to pay back any public funds claimed?

5. If I gain ILR, can I apply for citizenship for my 4 month old baby girl who was born here?

Can you please confirm the nationality/immigration status of your wife and child currently. Can you also confirm what your status was prior to applying for DLR?

Do not cancel, instead write to the Home Office and ask them to allow you to have access to public funds as for the best interest of the children's welfare. They have guidance to allow this and they can send you a revised BRP.

My wife and both children are currently Indian nationals.

I was on a tier 2 prior to being granted the DLR.

Thank you for this interesting (and surprising!) bit of information! Do I need legal representation to request this from the UKBA or can I approach them directly via post?

Do you know approximately how long this can take?
The reason I ask is because my passport and all original documents had been with the UKBA for almost two years while awaiting the decision on my DLR, and I wasnt able to apply for jobs or travel due to this reason.

I've got all the documentation ready, and Im planning to send it off to the Home Office, but I was wondering if this application is accepted and they allow access to public funds, will this decision negatively affect my ILR application later in this year?

my situation is a same as your , I applied for tier 1 entrepreneurs but visa refused due to deception now all appeal is refused , I applied for court of appeal for permission ,through solicitor ?.... I have three children can my spouse as a dependant can work in UK legally ,can we write home office about working to give permission for my husband to work in UK while our case in court of appeal is it possible guys to write a letter to home office asking to give us permission to work ,as our circumstances is very bad difficult to pay rent and living expense , I have three children and if appeal refuse then will apply for on human rights my daughter suing school in 6th class ,she studied half of his schooling in UK, so give me yr opinion in my case.. I will get more helpful with yr advice
