Fiancee visa

Post by rshelar » Mon Sep 28, 2015 10:03 am

Hi,

I am a naturalised British Citizen and wish to bring my non EEA partner within UK on a Fiancee visa with an intention to marry soon.

Can someone please point on what specific requirements are to show that we are engaged and definitely intend to marry?

the official website .gov.uk isnt much clear.

Regards

You don't need to pre-book anything but you should submit evidence that a wedding is being planned...quotes from wedding venues, caterers etc. You may be able to obtain something in writing or an email from the Registrar showing that you have made initial contact regarding available dates/requirements etc.
Is your fiancee's divorce finalised yet? :?

Thanks. I was asking more in reference to showing subsistence of relationship by way of photographs, chats or call logs?

For the points you've mentioned I guess a definite marriage date needs to be provided? I am not looking at a church wedding but a small ceremony in a council office so caterers etc will not be required.

Yea it is expected within few months :)

You asked for advice on how to prove you are engaged and intend to marry. Photographs, chats or call logs only prove you are in a relationship, not that you are planning a wedding. You won't be able to actually book a date for the wedding with the Registrar until your fiancee is in the UK. You will only be able to marry by the way in a Home Office designated Registry Office.

Suggestions:

You could publish an engagement notice in a newspaper.

Show receipt for engagement ring.

Write cover letter summarising wedding plan.
