DO NON-EU SPOUSE NEED BANK STATEMENTS?

i have question in my mind maybe its a very dumb question but its better to ask here on this forum.
do non-eu spouse of eu national need bank statements for schengen visa?.becuase i want to apply for schengen
visa from pakistan through german embassy.any help will be apreciated

i contacted german embassy pakistan today and they told me that i need the bank statements and all other
requirements like other pakistani nationalas.i told them i am spouse of a british national they told me uk dosent come under EU is that ridiculous or what kindly do comment as i need help urgently

as spouse of EU citizen you do not need to provide bank statement for visa.
