term time and home address and other questions, please help!

Post by katg » Fri Oct 02, 2015 2:17 pm

I am wanting to apply for citizenship very soon. I hold a EU country citizenship and so I have permission to stay, study, work, whatever, in the UK without any visas or anything. I have been here just over 9 years, and I meet the language requirements, I have an A in higher ESOL, but I'm fluent anyway, since I came here as a child, so I'll pass any additional tests if I have to. I am currently studying at a Scottish university, before that I went to a scottish high school.

Now, question 1: my parents live in scotland too, and I consider their home to still be my home, and I have my bank statements sent there, and it's registered as home address for my university, but I don't actually LIVE there, because I'm in a different city for university and rent a flat there. I'm registered with the council (for voting purposes) in the city I study in too. I move pretty much every year though, because that's just what you do as a student, all of these residences are here just for university purposes and temporary. I hope that makes sense. And here lies my problem, I don't know which addresses to put on the application form. Here's what my past addresses look like starting from now and going back:

2014-2015:Term address A/Home Address A
2013-2014: T address B/ H address A
2012-2013: T address C / H address A
2011-2012: T address D (halls) /H address A <<started uni
2009?-2011: H address B
2006/7-2009: H address A
2006-2006: H address C

I also can't remember exact dates (which day) for some of these addresses, never needed that before, only the months, and so I only know the months. How do I go about filling out the form?

Question 2: Another thing is that I don't know how to prove that I've been here continuously. I have this cardboard card with my picture and stuff from Home Office that I got in 2007 after a year, which I think shows that I'm a resident, but I'm not sure exactly because I was 14 and my parents did the paperwork and I've only seen the thing once. Other than that, I don't have any P60s because I've just been at school and university, and haven't worked. Is that enough?

Question 3!!!: I have apparently lost my SQA certificate (with my ESOL qualifications), but those are accessible online, and I have the email from the SQA with my grades, I just don't have the paper copy anymore. SQA could send me a duplicate but I only have till November before the ESOL qualifications aren't accepted anymore and it takes at least 3 weeks for them to send it so I'm not sure if I'll manage with my application in time. Do I need the paper copies?

Question 4
. The form is asking for exact dates of absences. I don't know the exact dates I was away, but it's roughly 2 or 3 weeks every year or two, so I definitely haven't been absent too much. I have no convictions, I live here, I speak English fluently with a Scottish accent, and so I meet all the requirements and more, to become a citizen, but the bureaucracy is just confusing me and I don't know where to get help!

Please help me.

As an adult, you also need to satisfy the KOLL requirements.

Well yes, My life in the UK test is next week and I have adequate ESOL qualifications (I just don't have a paper copy because I lost it, but I've now bit the bullet and I've ordered a replacement).

That doesn't answer any of my questions though, I'm afraid.
