Yes. If she qualifies.sonub4ualt wrote:My wife is on ILR and will be travelling to india for 1 year. Can she apply for her naturalization before travelling.
Yes, only if you are British.sonub4ualt wrote:If yes, can she have the ceremony abroad,
Not sure. Technically, her ILR ceases to exist. However, they cannot deny a British citizen entry. Else, they may simply admit her as a returning resident.sonub4ualt wrote:and once she is naturalized , does she has to apply for british passport or can she return on her indian passport to uk.

Many thanks Vinny, we both are on ILR. I am thinking of applying for British citizenship after which she will be applying for it. Between me and her's it will be a gap of about 45 days.vinny wrote:Yes. If she qualifies.sonub4ualt wrote:My wife is on ILR and will be travelling to india for 1 year. No, indians cannot have dual citizenship at any given time (a window of 90 days to surrender passport after naturalisation)noajthan wrote:sonub4ualt wrote:Hi,

Another factor to consider: can Indian nationals retain dual citizenship (& an Indian passport)?
Out of interest, which country of residence was stated on the naturalisation application regarding future intentions?
If in India for a year plenty of time to apply for a first British passport.
Best of British luck.
Other option is that she applies everything here and then travel to india. Is there anyway we can fast track her naturalization application as we have already booked our tickets at the end of November for my brother's wedding.sonub4ualt wrote:Many thanks Vinny, we both are on ILR. Meanwhile, if I get my British passport after she travels and if she gets naturalisation certificate (while in india), is there a provision to have the ceremony abroad and apply for her passport there, or does she have to come back on ILR and then have the ceremony here and apply for a passport here in UK.
No fast track option.sonub4ualt wrote:Other option is that she applies everything here and then travel to india. Is there anyway we can fast track her naturalization application as we have already booked our tickets at the end of November for my brother's wedding.
