Can we apply from UK itself? - Spouse visa

Hello all..

I am here on WP VISA and want to bring my family to UK on spouse dependent visa?

is it possible to apply for the Dependent visa for my Wife and child in UK itself and get teh EC for them from here???

I heard about this option from some my friends.. i just want to check with the experienced members here..

this is the info i got from one of the visa offices..

"UK Visas department told that this type of visa can only be applied for from the applicant’s country of usual residence – it cannot be applied for from within the UK"

anyway good luck to you all and for me as well
