Naturalisation Application Question re: Residency Evidence

Post by hredderson » Tue Oct 06, 2015 2:23 pm

Hello,

I am finishing up my application for my British Citizenship.

After reading through the AN supporting guides, I am still a bit unlcear on documents I need to supply to prove residence. As I am married to a British citizen, I only need to prove residency for the previous three years but it states on the application that you can provide your passport(s) OR letters from employers, etc to prove this.

I have been living in the UK continously since I first arrived here in 2011. Will my US passport be proof enough of residency as that has all my dates in/out of the UK since I moved here or do I need to also provide letters from my employers?

Many thanks,
Heather

Heather,
If your passport has been stamped as you travelled back & forth then it will suffice;
(providing letters etc is more of a requirement for EEA nationals who may not have had their passports stamped when popping back to rest of Europe).

Remember to make sure you can prove you were physically present in UK 3 years (as married to BC) from date of your application.
(Again passport will suffice assuming you were in UK at the time).
