Naturalization --> WRS query and gap in employment

Post by AlexandraKa » Thu Oct 08, 2015 8:20 am

Hello All,

I hope you would be able to assit me. I have already spent few hours on research but unfortunately could not find the answer to my questions...

I am an A8 national. I started my employment on 18/06/2009, registered with WRS within 30 days and received WRS document which was dated 01/07/2009. I left the job exactly after 12 months which was on 18/06/2010.

On 01/07/2010 I went travelling and returned to UK on 06/08/2010. I got a job offer at the end August 2010, contract was signed on 20/09/2010 but the employment started on 27/09/2010 (due to all procedures with security check ect.). Since then I am in the same job with no employment gaps.

My concerns are:

1. Does the qualifying period starts from the date the job started as I registered with WRS within 30 days?
2. Does the gap in the employment can cause any issue at my application?

Thank you in advance! Your help is much appreciated :-)

1) Yes.

2) No, absence from UK is permitted (up to 6 months in a year).

Many thanks! :-)

I have one more question...
I first registered with WRS in 2008 but changed my employment within the first 12 month working in the UK.
My new employer registered me with WRS in 2009. I have been working for 12 months without a break.

From the first employment I have WRS certificate and photo registration card but from the second one I only traced the certificate :-/. As it was so long ago I cannot recall whether I was issued a new card as well...

I found the below comment:
Each time you change your employment within your first 12 month you will need to forward a WRS application form to the Home Office (...) You will be issued with a new certificate naming your new employer and a copy to your new employer. You should keep the new certificate as well as your original certificate and photo registration card

Based on the above does it mean they only issued one worker registration card and later only supporting registration certificates for each new employer?

Thank you!
