British Passport queries

Hi,

I got naturalisation approval on 10th oct and have the ceremony booked for 20th oct.
I have to travel on 27th nov. ( tickets had been booked in advance for a family event.)

My queries are:
- If i apply for british passport on 20th oct and send my current passport for the application, in case the paspport doesnt come by 27th nov, is there any facility where i can ask for my current passport to be returned? If yes how much time does it take and how much hassle will it be?

- all my documents are in my maiden name currently. Can i get name changed to married name in my passport application? Will it take longer time for this application?

1. Possible that you will have your documents back but if not, requesting them back can take a few weeks.

2. Apply in your maiden name, if that is what all your official paperwork is in. HMPO have become strict and there is a thread about passport applications being refused due to this scenario.

I will apply in my maiden name then.
I am also looking into changing dates for my travel but the ticket is non changeable.

Will it be better if i apply for british passport on my return (dec end.)? Can i travel on my current passport and naturalization certificate? I still have the brp card...will i be allowed entry into uk using it?
