Mental health assessment

Post by stormystar99 » Tue Oct 06, 2015 6:21 pm

My Indian husband is an overstayer, our spouse application got refused because we made a stupid mistake on the form!

A while back we got a letter asking if we had any new/additional info. Part of what we sent back was that my husband had a history of self harm. They then wrote asking for more evidence. We sent photos and a letter from a doctor in Indian that my husband saw a few years ago. Anyway, now we've had a letter from our local nhs trust, saying my husband has been referred for a mental health assessment by the home office. What does this mean? Has anyone experienced this?

Due to past history, NHS wants to check mental
State of your husband such as identifying whether he is suffering from any disorder so that such an event does not occurs again. It is for the safety of your husband as well as those around him.

It still does not explains why HO have referred me and are paying for this expensive service as we have been told.

We have had a word with few immigration lawyers and unfortunately none of them have ever come across anything like this before... As we have been told to book more sessions with no extra cost if needed as well. Would you have any idea why have HO referred me... What are the implications for my husbands application to stay here? And, we have been told the session will be confidential, which does not help us understand what HO are trying to achieve with this? Thank you for our help.
