The way I see it is I'll only be using the amount of time I'm allowed to under a tourist visa to visit family (my husband), as according to the uk gov website lots of categories are included in their "tourist visa" and one of them is visiting family in the UK for up to six months.Wanderer wrote:Highly unlikey since you will not be 'visiting', you'll be 'residing'
I understand it, thank you for contributingWanderer wrote:Aye but you'll see that tourist visas for those with spouses in the UK are rarely granted and using the full six months is never a good idea even if a genuine visit, I'm afraid the ECO's fear that in these situations the temptation to attempt to stay are too much for the visitor.
You see you have to prove 'reasons to return' and having a husband in UK would knock any valid examples of those into a cocked hat.
Try it tho - it's only £80 or so though a refusal on your history is never good....
In that case just 'make like a tourist'! Not too much luggage, and remember the six months in 12 'rule' - frequent visits raise eyebrows, while it's not the rulebook anymore, IO's use it as a guide.giorawr wrote:I understand it, thank you for contributingWanderer wrote:Aye but you'll see that tourist visas for those with spouses in the UK are rarely granted and using the full six months is never a good idea even if a genuine visit, I'm afraid the ECO's fear that in these situations the temptation to attempt to stay are too much for the visitor.

Try it tho - it's only £80 or so though a refusal on your history is never good....the thing is I don't need a previous tourist visa as I'm Brazilian. So basically I only need the stamp when I go through immigration in England. So this is why I'm worried about it.
