What need to supply for my family to visit us? (visa free)

My mum and my wife's mum are coming to visit our soon-to-born first child.
They are staying for one month, they are from Hong Kong, can visit UK without visa (for 3 months I think).
They dont speak English, I am planing to send them a covering letter to explain their stay, eg I will cover their expenses and they will live with me etc.

Is that enough?
Will they ask them in the desk my bank statement, or mortgage statement etc?
Should they bring some cash with them? in case they ask?

It is not clear if your family will be coming on HKSAR passports or BNO passports. In either case, they should be able to get a visa on arrival for upto six months.

However, both of them will need to explain to the Immigration Officer the reason for their visit, so some element of speaking in English will be required. A letter from you would be helpful as they would need to show the Immigration Officer that they have the accommodation and funds for that duration of time.

The gov.uk website suggests carrying the same documents as ones that would be used if you were applying at the British Consulate-General in Hongkong. It also links to a document that lists suggested documents.

they are coming here using HKSAR passport so as you said, can get visa on arrival up to 6 months.

I own a 2 bedroom flat and they will be both staying in my 2nd spare room, do you think they will be picky on that, ie overcrwded? will they ask evidence of my flat ownership on arrival?

would you suggest I post them my bank statement for them to show to officer?
