Immigration health surcharge

Post by Charmila » Mon Oct 26, 2015 7:00 pm

Hi everyone,

I have filled my online application using visa4uk website.I'm from India and applying for a dependent settlement visa. My husband is on ILR. At the time of payment, it is showing around £1600 as Immigration Health Surcharge. I would like to know for how many days is that visa valid and how is it calculated? I have browsed a lot on the same and I'm unable to get an answer either on website or phone. Please anyone let me know to whom should I contact on such questions and how many years IMS is it charging for me through the online applicaation? Is there any customer care number to help me in India?

Thanks in advance.....

How will I know the number of years for which IHS is charged for my application?
Thanks in advance.....

Each applicant has to pay £200 per year their visa is valid. So one applicant applying for a 33 month visa (nearly 3 years) should pay £600.

Thank you for the reply. But in the website, it's asking me to pay around £1600 but not £600.. How many years is this valid then? Is there a way to know the number of years it's calculated for my application?

You have selected something incorrectly somewhere. List the questions and answers you are giving so we can see. It is definitely only £600 uou should be paying.

I've just checked through the online 'calculation' and for your application it shows the correct '£600' surcharge. I'm guessing that you may be making an error by clicking 'joining main applicant'. You are 'applying alone' as a spouse of 'other dependent of a settled person.'

Thanks a lot for the immediate response.

Once the appointment is booked, it's getting redirected to IHS payment page and directly it's asking to pay INR 168000. There is no option to select as you told in the online application form. However, I have tried using the online calculator and selected 'Join main applicant'. But, there is no option to select in the online application form ...as it's directly redirecting the page to pay INR 168000.If I select as Applying alone, it's £600.00 as you told. But, why is it different in the online application form? Please help me.

Visa type----- Settlement->wife
Husband is on ILR.
Thanks in advance.

But you aren't 'joining the main applicant!' Your husband is not applying - you are the applicant!

Thank you so for the clarification.
While paying the fee online, there is no option to select 'applying alone'. It's redirecting to pay for INR 168000 once I book for an appointment.
There is no option to edit. And one more clarification please. Is settlement->wife is the correct visa type I opted for or where I might have been wrong while filling the application?

Many thanks.
