English Language Test..

Post by 17mayis » Tue Nov 03, 2015 8:53 pm

Hi

once again its me i did apply for British citizenship on June 2015 .. and on Friday i received a letter related to my application asking for some information the travel document i sent was expired on 03/01/2013 so they want some proof since that day of expiration to the date i submit my application about my residence in UK .. i did call DWP becasuei was receiving Job seekers allowance so they will send me a proof .

second thing that they request is Evidence that satisfy the knowledge of English which is weird because i passed UK life test and sent the certificate now they want acceptable English language qualification .. i do have level 1 and 2 ESOL qualification that i passed in 2008 In Newcastle College also i passed some high level course like General computing and stuff diploma Cambridge certificate .

I did some research online and what i found out that i cant use this certificate as a evidence is that true because of new law and that my qualification has expired by now is that true ? That now i need to take GESE Grade 5 B1 test ?

i need to send this document by 19 of November i'm really screwed up i dont know what to do the time period they give is really short .

even though that i want to take the B1 Test they need up to date passport or travel document which is mine expired what shall i do guys please help me show me a way :(

thanks in advance ..

It's a longshot but you may just be in time to submit an ESOL Level 1 or 2 qualification in Speaking/Listening if it is listed on Ofqual website.
Note ESOL won't be accepted after 5th November.

Ref: https://www.gov.uk/english-language/app ... ifications
You can also prove your knowledge of English by having:
  • an ESOL qualification at Entry 3 or higher (eg Level 1 or 2) on the Ofqual register taken in England, Wales or Northern Ireland - qualifications at Entry 1 or 2 won’t be accepted
You would have to send it by a special delivery service to ensure it arrives in time.

Regarding residency...

For proof of residency, suggest you take a 'belt & braces' approach to reduce HO's 'wriggle room' and also submit any/all official letters you may have for the relevant period, from:
  • Home Office or other government departments, eg tax office;
    Job Centre/NI;
    medical authorities, the NHS &/or local doctor/dentist/optician, EHIC etc;
    library registration;
    landlord/housing association/tenancy letters/documents, etc.
    educational establishment (college/university) if you have been any type of student here in UK;
    if from a Commonwealth country: voter registration documentation
Best of luck.

so what you saying that i should send my ESOL qualification ?

as you made a note yourself it says won't be accept it after 5th November :( but i did receive a letter before that day though . plus i passed my Esol 6 -7 years ago how I'm going to show them that I'm a fluent English speaker lolz

I really don't mind doing the B1 test and pay the fees but the only ID they accept is passport or Biometric card i have only Travel document and its expired :(

As mentioned above, such an ESOL qualification (Entry 3 or higher, ie level B1 / CEFR) needs to be listed on the Ofqual website.
If it is listed that will answer your question.

The relevant link is in the Gov UK webpage (above), here it is again:
http://register.ofqual.gov.uk/

As a backup you could still look into taking a SELT if you can produce a form of ID that a provider will accept.
