Surrender Indian passport + OCI application

Hello

Could you please guide me.

Do i need to apply for surrender certificate prior to OCI application? or Can I apply for surrender certificate and OCI application in the same appointment in the same fees?

Your help would be greatly appreciated.

Also in the OCI application, do you put in the UK passport details or Indian passport details.

When you physically submit your OCI application, you will need to provide your actual copy of the surrender certificate. I'm sure you can apply online for the OCI now and you will be given a temporary number to get back to the online registration but no submission without the surrender certificate.

Fees for the surrender certificate are separate to the OCi and there is a separate counter at the India Visa Office to apply for the Surrender Certificate and a separate one for OCI.

Enter UK passport details where required.

Another query.
I filled in the Online application for OCI services and booked the appointment for surrendering the passport which is on 19th Nov. I partially filled the form but did not upload any documents. It generated the Temporary ID and I got the email and GBR ref number with which I booked my appointment. Now I am trying to retrieve my application with the Temp ID and It says 'No such Temp ID found'.

I cannot cancel or reschedule my appointment on the 19 as the time has already passed to make any changes. If i did fill in a new application, can I take it to my appointment on the 19th Nov? or will I need to book another appointment with the new GBP ref.

What would happen, if i didnt turn up for the appointment on the 19th, cox the GBR details on the new form do not match on the appointment confirmation email.

I have used my Indian passport number to fill the details for this OCI form? will that be an problem?

I figured out what i was doing wrong in trying to retrieve my application form. You need to use the GBR reference in the partially submitted section.

OCI requires your UK passport so that they can record it with your OCI card. I'm still waiting for my OCI card any day now but in future you will carry your OCI card with your UK passport when you travel to India. Your Indian passport is no longer relevant to anything as you will have surrendered it. Are you able to amend your form online? If you have entered your Indian passport in your form then best to call the Indian Visa office and tell them what you have done and whether you can just print out your form and over-write it in pen with your UK passport number and then go for your appointment.

Hi there

I tried to call them to enquire.. but they have been true to their reputation.. Unanswered phone call. I am going to surrender my passport. So wondering if the Indian passport number on the OCI application matters or not.

Unfortunately, I cant change the details on the form, which I used to book the appointment. So what ive done is made another application with the UK passport number and taken a print of both forms. Lets see, if they accept this one. If not, I will book another appointment on another day.
