Has anyone applied for retention rights as a previous beneficiary of Singh ruling, by way of cover letter and not actually using the lengthy EEA FM application form?

If anyone has done so, did you face any obstacles in doing so?

you should use the proper application form and submit the fee as well for ROR. with application you can send covering letter too.
You may have to fight a battle more than once to win it.
