Enter UK without visa in passport

Post by jeffkennet99 » Fri Nov 27, 2015 1:32 pm

In September I had my passport taken by immigration at the airport because I had pasted my EEA residence card into my passport (yes now I realise you can't do this but thought at the time it was fine).

Anyway, I've just got my new passport and I'm wanting to spend travel with my wife to Germany at Christmas to spend with the family.

Now, I don't have the EEA residence vinaigrette in my passport anymore (I acquired it in early 2011). So I'm wondering how I'll go coming back into the UK (I'm driving via the tunnel btw)?

I've spoken to someone who advised that I might need to prove my relationship with my wife at the border before they will stamp my passport with a stamp which lasts 6 months, hence I should take supporting docs.

Btw, I intend on applying for a new residence card straight after I'm back and didn't want to do so yet because of Christmas.

Has anyone had experience with coming into the country without their residence card/visa?
