English Language IELTS in 2010 and. ILR

Post by jafferdeen » Sat Dec 05, 2015 8:25 am

My friend is looking to apply for ILR from tier 1 general
He got his initial tier1 in 2010.
He used IELTS with 6 Bands for initial Tier 1 application to get English language points
Now he is eligible for indefinite leave but there is confusion with English Language
His IELTS was done 2010 which is expired now but he was given points for English language
Will he has to pass any English exam ???

What is the name of the test provider (as written on the test certificate)?

I didn't ask you to tell me what IELTS stands for, but for the name of the awarding body as named on the test result certificate.

ESOL qualifications are no longer accepted so the applicant will have to sit for a test again.

Thanks a lot for your help
When I click link I found this information

You can use an expired test if:

"you’re applying to settle in the UK and your qualification was accepted for another UK immigration application, eg when you got permission to enter."

Is it something relevant with this case in your opinion.

Yes.
IELTS SELT consortium came into being only a couple of years ago, at the behest of UKV&I for the purpose of immigration applicants.
Not all IELTS exams are IELTS SELT exams.

ESOL qualifications are no longer accepted.

A recent case of refusal of an application due to an expired IELTS (not IELTS ESOL) qualification.

Hi, could you please help me as well?

I passed my IELTS test in 2010 in Ukrainian British Council. The test centre number is in the current list of approved test centres, but I'm still not sure if it's valid or not.

Thanks

Hi All,

I may be sounding another desperate person but still I am not sure about English test requirement even after reading frequently asked questions/guidance etc published here on this website.

My simple question, I took IELTS Exam in Mar 2009 ( Test Centre- IN120 Bristish Council New Delhi). It was on approved test centre list in April 15 list but not anymore. Is this test centre list meant to be for current exams ?

I will be applying for Tier 1 ILR in Jan 16

Any advice will be highly appreciated.

Thanks

All,

If the awarding body is shown as "Cambridge English Language Assessments" in the IELTS certificate, it should be accepted - provided it is not a IELTS ESOL exam test result.
Else, it seems it may not be.

1. Scan your IELTS test result page.
2. Redact any personal information / scores that you wish not to share.
3. Attach the image to your post (image size should be less than 50Kb).

@Tier1-ILR2016 As Susdmehta says repeatedly your examination is Cambridge Esol hence you need to take the exam again.

Hi All,

Thanks for reply and advice.

I will book my B1 test.

Just wondering how come my IELTS test from British Council became University of Cambridge - ESOL test ?

AFAIK, British Council and IDP are global examination facilitators, not awarding bodies!!

ILR and Education points ....

Post by jafferdeen » Wed Dec 16, 2015 11:15 pm

Hi All
My Friend ILR is due next month.
in his initial application he didn't score any education points .Before his extension he has completed his MBA from UK but then in extension he didn't claim any points for Education. Therefore he had to show high level of earnings.
During last year of his Tier 1 (General) he has not earn enough earnings.

Can he now claim points for his education now ??? or if he has not claimed points during his initial/extension then he is not allowed to claim points now???

please advice

I believe he can. See 14 which seems to suggest so!
The specified documents in paragraph 14-SD must be provided as evidence of the qualification, unless the applicant has, or was last granted, leave as a Highly skilled Migrant or a Tier 1 (General) Migrant and previously scored points for the same qualification in respect of which points are being claimed in this application.

Hi All,

Actually I was away on holiday since last month so could not catch up with any updation on english test. Do we still need to take another test even though it was accepted at entry clearance.

I noticed below working from Gov.uk website:

Applying to settle in the UK

You can use a B1 level qualification that’s run out if you’re applying to settle in the UK and it was accepted for another UK immigration application, eg when you got permission to enter.

It doesn’t matter if the B1 level test you took isn’t on the list of recognised tests now. You don’t need to take another test.

....So confused.....

Really want to avoid another test if possible.

any suggestions
