EEA(PR) application, need my passport back ASAP

I'm just about to send off my application for a document certifying permanent residence. I am sending my EEA passport, which expires in August 2016, and that I can only renew at the Embassy in London. I am also likely changing jobs very soon, within the next few weeks, and will need the passport as proof of right to work in the UK.

Instead of waiting the 6 months for my passport to arrive back with the PR document, could I include a covering letter explaining the circumstances and provide a paid envelope so they can post my passport back as soon as they have checked it?

This seems to worked for some members here. Alternatively, you could just request your docs back online as soon as you have sent your application.

Thanks, I was not aware there was such a service but I have found the online form now. For date of application, would I just put the date that they received it?

Great, just realised that I forgot to post the actual link, glad you found it. Yes, I believe that's the date they received it, so usually postage day +1 if you are using first-class or next day delivery

Just got my whole bundle of everything into the envelope, it just about fits. The start of an exciting but no doubt very long adventure!

Double post - just read "Processes and procedures for EEA documentation applications" and it actually says that when an EEA qualified person applies for a document certifying permanent residence, it must be provided immediately upon receipt of the application and sufficient evidence.

The 6 month timescale seems to apply only to non-EEA applying for PR card. So it's no big hassle really, if I post the application tomorrow and get everything back before even the end of January it will be a bonus, as I can then renew my passport and get the AN form straight in.
