Dependent visa on ILR to dependent visa on citizenship

Post by Rohitr » Sun Dec 20, 2015 7:46 pm

Hi,

I am currently on dependent visa (FLR-M) on my wife's ILR and she will be applying for naturalisation in January 16. I have a couple of questions, will be grateful if someone can answer them.
1. Do I have to re-apply for dependent visa or my current visa will suffice?
2. I have been a dependent for a year as of today, do I need to complete 5 years to apply for citizenship or 3 years on dependent will suffice?

Many thanks.

1. Current visa, your situation doesn't change.

2. 5 years (extend after 2.5 years passing same tests), then ILR and in theory BC immediately subject to absences etc.

Thanks Wanderer for the quick response, much appreciated! Glad to know that I don't have o splash a fortune to reapply for the same visa.

You will still have to pay around £1500 to extend FLR(M) in 18months time including the NHS surcharge.
