EEA(FM)/EEA2 EEA Nat'l Spouse Self sufficient/seeking job

Hey everyone,

I'm preparing my application for the EEA2 registration card.

My spouse is an EEA national and I am an American working here on a Tier2 ICT visa wishing to move onto the Family member registration card.

My spouse quit his job at the end of August 2015 and is currently in vocational training. He has not claimed job seekers allowance as he is self sufficient (being supported by me & his savings).

Has anyone applied for an EEA2 when their spouse is self sufficient/currently looking for new work? Does it lower any chances I have of receiving this registration card? How much is enough evidence of showing that my spouse has a genuine chance of getting another job? (My spouse is definitely very qualified but you never know how much the HO is looking for?!)

In order to comply with the requirements of an EEA national 'exercising their Treaty rights' as self-sufficient or as a student, they must be paying Comprehensive Sickness Insurance (CSI).

Suggest researching maintaining the continuity of treaty rights by virtue of vocational training.

Also be careful about supporting your sponsor with your resources so that they can then sponsor you.

And be careful about jobseeker status, I understand there are now timelimits on this status for EU qualified persons.

Your spouse may still be considered to be exercising treaty rights as a worker by undergoing vocational training...

Someone who has temporarily stopped working can still be considered a worker under Regulation 6(2) of the Regulations if they can provide proof that they:

• are involuntarily unemployed and have embarked on vocational training;
  voluntarily stopped working to start vocational training related to their previous employment;
