applying for child benefit

Post by masirman » Sat Jan 23, 2016 8:29 pm

Hello,
please advise:
my wife and I both have ILR. We have a 5 month old baby who has British passport. can I apply to receive child benefit using Child Benefit claim form (CH2)?
We recently applied for British naturalisation, if we receive child benefit, will it have negative effect on our citizenship application (is it against the law)?
Thank you.

Now that you have ILR you and your wife are no longer under Immigration control and can apply for CB and any other benefits that apply to your financial situation. No affect at all on your BC application. Here's a link to the benefits calculator. Choose the option 'British' in order to check your entitlement, it will give the same result as a claimant on ILR.
