Urgent - Absences

Post by royabbas455 » Tue Feb 02, 2016 1:38 pm

Hello all.

Thanks for your outstanding contribution on this valuable forum.

I have a quick question regarding absences.

I understand that the rule is not to have more than 450 absences in the past five years and not more than 90 in the last 12 months. However I think I was provided incorrect information from the nationality helpline when they said that absences should not exceed 90 days in each of the five years.

Is that true? Because I think the 90 day rule only matters in the past 12 months. Isn’t it?

I am applying next week and in the year 2011, I went out of the country for a short trip of 30 days.

Then in year 2012 I went out of the country again and returned back within six months (170 days in total).

When I was out my visa was expired but then I got a new visa from overseas and I came back within six months. I got ilr last year based on 10 years lawful residence

In all I have 200 absences in past five years. (30 in 2011 and 170 in 2012) (that 170 was taken in one go)

Would I be ok? Please help

You'll be fine. there is no requirement to have max 90 absences in one year. You can break 450 as per your liking.
