Hi,

I'm planning to apply for British Citizenship on 15-Feb-2016 through NCS.

Considering Last 5 years (16-Feb-2011 to 15-Feb-2016) , i been away for 186 days. Is this a problem?
do we have 180 days limit for British Citizenship?

Thanks CR01. I was physically present on 15-Feb-2011.

I came back from vacation on 13-Jan-11 and lived in UK until 02-Dec-2011 before i went for 90 days treatment.

Can you please clarify.

Naturalisation + Passport together

Post by jilpangs » Thu Feb 04, 2016 2:50 pm

Hi,

I'm indian national and hold Indian Passport currently. I have heard we need to surrender Indian Passport
before getting British Passport (Is this right)?

But i see people applying for Naturalisation + Passport together. So, is it not like at one point in time
they will have 2 country passports? Is this allowed and do we have any time limit to then surrender Indian passport?

Only certain councils are offering the pilot scheme. If you are using NCS at one that does not, then you still have to apply for your passport after your ceremony.

You have 90 days from date of ceremony to surrender your passport.

Apologies CR001 and thanks for reorg of my queries.

So if my local NCS have the pilot option i can apply for Naturalization + Passport.

And is it mandatory that i need to surrender Indian passport (IP) once attending Ceremony (or 90 days from there)
OR
i can wait till i get British Passport (BP) before i surrender my IP.?

Just in case if any issues and delays in getting BP after ceremony and i already surrendered by IP.

This one, as it is WITHIN 90 days. You need your British passport in order to surrender.

Please ask any questions about Indian passport/OCI process in the 'Other Forums' section further down on the main forum page.

NOW, about FEES.

I'm going through this document.
https://www.gov.uk/government/uploads/s ... _07_21.pdf

It states, "Fees must be paid in full at the same time as you send your application(s) to the Home Office".

As im using NCS, should i pay fees to them using my CREDIT / DEBIT / Other means ? It doesnt say where to pay. But it says "You may pay by cheque or credit/debit card. Please send your payment with the payment slip attached to this leaflet. Page 4 got a slip. So do they mean i just need to fill in my card details there and handover to NCS?

If yes, then actually my card is not debited at the time of application. So going back to the first line "Fees must be paid in full at the same time as you send your application(s) to the Home Office" doesnt make sense to me (Fees must be paid - I HAVENT PAID anything yet at this point)

Can someone please clarify?

Thanks
JIL

You need to complete the fee leaflet. NCS do not take the payment.

Hi,

"Section 1.1 Please give ... Home office reference no. "

What is HO Ref no? and where can i find it?

If it's the BRP Card, then should i fill in BRP Card no ? same info i already filled in Section 6 - BIO metrics details.

Also, section 1.17 - as per my first message in this thread. I have an absence of 90 days. I was outside UK so what address should i fill in ? OR can i leave this period as Gap and fill in the UK address prior to that?

Thanks
Jil

You can leave 1.1 blank.

1.17 - you can write 'extended holiday in home country' and provide the address if you did not have an address in the UK during that time.

Yes for those 90 days i didnt have an address as i vacated my house. I wasnt sure how long the treatment might take hence vacated house.

So i should give "Indian Address" for those 90 days? Will it create any problems to my application?

I also had a long gap of about 4 months in which I had to go to my home country to take care of my ill mom. I have just written UK address and shown the gap in the absence section. Now I'm wondering if i should change it or leave it as it is.
