Lost BRP - late police report

Post by Kcall07 » Sun Feb 07, 2016 1:03 pm

Hello,

We have a problem regarding a recent visa application and would very much appreciate any advice,

My wife has had leave to remain in the UK for about 2 years under a spouse visa. She lost her BRP while visiting her family in Las Vegas this Christmas. As we were certain we had misplaced the visa in our own house we didn't think we had to obtain a police report (although we did contact the home office and cancel the card straight away.) we only realised it was mandatory when filling out the replacement BRP form back in England. We then attempted to contact the Las Vegas police but they told us they could only file a report if we were there in person. The only other alternative we could see was to tell the UK police, which we did via the non emergency number. We obtained the reference number and put this on the form.

Can anyone give us any advice regarding this? Could the UK police report be enough? Is there anything else we could do at this stage?

Any help would be greatly appreciated!

Ben

How did she re-enter the UK if she did not have her BRP?

Did she apply in the US for a single entry BRP/spouse visa?
