spouse visa extension

Post by princessj » Fri Mar 04, 2016 9:53 am

Hi Casa,

I am wondering if you can help me.

I am the applicant and am going to extend my spouse visa in 6 months' time. I earn £2000 after tax. I have got personal loans/credit card with payment of about £800 going out every month. My husband and I bought our property last month (no mortgage). Council tax bill and other bills I guess will be around £250 per month. My transport cost is £190 per month. Roughly I am left with about £800 every month before paying for our phone bill/gym membership, etc...

My husband (sponsor) is currently looking for a job (don't know how long it will take). He ceased trading last month to buy us the house.

Do you think that my application will be affected by him not working?

I am concerned whether or not I will need to show maintenance funds? Do you think I have high expenses?

Many thanks for your time.

You can use your income to meet the financial requirement for your extension.

HO uses your income before tax for the financial requirement, they are not interested in your expenses.

spouse visa

You should really post this in your own thread as you've high jacked one belonging to another member.
If you applied for your spouse visa after 9th July 2012 you will have to show income of £18,600 per annum regardless of how you spend your earnings.

Please don't send me PMs asking for immigration advice on posts that are on the open forum. If I haven't responded there, it's because I don't have the answer. I'm a moderator, not a legal professional.

Please don't keep posting your question onto another members topic, it is considered rude and creates confusion when members respond.

I moved your post to its own thread and have already responded to your question.

Apologies - I did not quite know how to create a new thread.

So, it is not an issue if my husband has no income I understand. This is because it may take 2-3 months before he finds a job.

Thanks for your replies. Very helpful.
