NARIC- a must?

Post by tulipz » Mon Dec 17, 2007 8:22 am

Hi,
My husband has a bachelors degree from IIT -kgp and Masters from an IIM.

IIT and IIM are both reputed colleges world wide. So, will it be necessary for us to take NARIC certificate for the same?

If we know for sure that these universities are listed on NARIC database, can we apply without NARIC certificate?

I am worried a bit because, by name they are "INSTITUTES" . not "UNIVERSITIES"

Please advise.

It'll be very helpful if someone from IIT or IIM throws some light on this...

it is strongly advisable to get a NARIC letter and put that with the application.

Don't take for granted that IIT/IIM is known to an HSMP immigration officer.

ALWAYS MAKE IT A POINT TO SEND MORE INFORMATION THAN LESS.

Bachelors degree from IIT will be no problem.

However, sometimes IIMs actually provide diploma even though it reads MBA.

If not claiming points for master's you can go ahead without NARIC.

Unless you're in hurry, it is better to get NARIC.

Not anymore, I am afraid..Both don`t figure in the World's top 500 Unis. IIT was initially included (ranked 100 odd) in the World's Top 250 Tech Institutions or something but was dropped this year thanks to the Indian Govt's move to implement reservations in them..

Hiya,

While the onus of proof lies with the applicant, you can rest assured that both IIMs and IITs are part of the NARIC database (this is despite the fact that all IIMs only provide a PGDM and not an "MBA").

I would not have applied for a NARIC CoC. However, the final decision is yours. Doesn't harm you either way.

Cheers.

Hi,
Keep in mind this is not mandatory!!! This is what people think like that way...that going to NARIC and getting letter will be good. I am from a not much known technical university, still havent provided my NARIC letter.
Above that, HSMP team has acces to NARIC database!!
If it would have been mandatory, guidance notes must have descirbed it clearly. Dont go out of the box when you have already substantial proof.
Bear in mind, this is just a peace of mind....If you are happy to spend money go ahead!
