Residency QP

Post by Chinho2k » Sun Mar 20, 2016 5:06 am

Hi all, I am about to apply for naturalisation but have just realised I do not meet the 5 year residential qualifying period as I was away for 5 months (5 years ago), however I have held ILR for 9 years and been in the UK for 19 years. My question is can I apply as a spouse through my wife who has just submitted hers (I am confident she will get hers barring some unforeseen hurdle, very straightforward application), as I will meet the 3 year qualifying period for spousal applications? Is there any rule barring me from applying as a spouse and not through my own merit?

You can apply as the spouse of a BC but you would only be able to do this once your wife is British (application has been approved and she has attended ceremony).
