Hi Guys,

I am a British Citizen, by Birth really what i need help with is that my Mum is 59 years old, not born here but i'll like to apply for her to get some sort of settlement stay and live with us and her grandchild. She is the only parent i have left as my dad passed away 2 years ago. My wife and I do work for the MOJ, but i have not got a clue what forms need to be filled in or where to start.

Any help or advice will be greatly appreciated as it would point me in some sort of direction.

Do you have any brothers or sisters? How is her health? Does she have a pension or own her own home?

Hi Victoria,

I do have a sister in the US and a brother not in the uk. Her health is fine, she has no pension and she does not own her home as she lives at my brother's house. She has been coming and going to the uk fo the last 2 years. Infact i wrote her an invitation letter a while back, to attend my wedding and applied for a 3 months visa for her and the High Commision gave her 6 months visa instead. So that was very good and i was very greatful as i had not seen her in 13 years.

If you have siblings, there needs to be an extremely good reason why they cannot look after her.

As she is living at your brother's house, I would say this application will be almost impossible.
