Wife's passport for VISA application

Post by Ob123456 » Sun Mar 20, 2016 11:43 am

Hello,

I am looking for some help regarding documents when applying for my wife's VISA to join myself here in the UK.

I am applying on her behalf (she is currently in Ukraine). Will I need to submit her original passport or can it be a copy? If it is a copy what is the best way of getting it notarised - should we get it notarised in Ukraine or should i do it here in the UK? I am a bit dubious about sending her original passport.

Can anyone supply me with a link to where I could find a definitive list of what documents an applicant would need?

Many thanks for any help

Thanks for replying.

Do I need to get my wife's passport certified?

You need to send your Ukrainian wife's original passport when she submits her application in the Ukraine. Photocopies (certified or otherwise) won't be accepted.

YOUR passport can be copies/certified as the sponsor.

Am I not able to submit the application on her behalf? When I registered on VISA4UK there is an option to apply on someone's behalf.

No, she has to apply and submit from Ukraine. You cannot do it in the UK for her because she has to submit her biometrics etc.

The 'apply on behalf of someone else' is mainly for immigration advisors etc.

Thanks again for the reply.

I have created a folder containing all of the supporting docs etc which is almost complete. Once completed will I need to give this to my wife to submit in Ukraine or will I be able to send here in the UK? This is what I'm confused by the most!! I was hoping I could take care of all of the application and collating the documents here in the UK as it's easier for me.

I will call the information line today. I have have been searching for a step by step guide which so far I haven't been able to find.

The applicant has to submit the application in their home country for entry clearance visa. Where does it say someone in their home country can get their spouse to apply for an ENTRY CLEARANCE visa from within the UK?

You applied from Pakistan (based on your numerous previous posts) and are currently in an appeal process for a refused spouse visa.

The poster of this topic is applying from the Ukraine. Not all countries are required to submit in Sheffield like Pakistan is and even then, it is ONLY the supporting documents that get sent to Sheffield.

Well you post in so many different 'country' threads it is hard to determine where you are from. You should have applied in Morocco and it is processed in France. Don't know why you thought you could apply for ENTRY CLEARANCE from within the UK.

For Ukraine, the application is made in the Ukraine as well as biometrics etc.

Can you please not ask questions about your drawn out application in this topic/thread. It is unfair to other users. Certain countries are dealt with differently than others. Point made.
