Certified copy of sponsor's passport

Post by Ob123456 » Tue Mar 22, 2016 2:18 pm

Hello,

My wife is applying to join myself here in the UK. Will I need a certified copy of all the pages of my passport?

Many thanks,

According to the guide to supporting documents located at https://www.gov.uk/government/uploads/s ... lement.pdf

Evidence of your sponsor’s immigration status/ permission to be in the UK:
This could be copies of:
 bio-data pages from their passport or Travel Document
 valid UK visa or UK stamp from their passports
 Home Office letter confirming their permission to stay in the UK

I was asked to pay £60 for an attested copy of my bio data page which I didn't want to pay so sent my original passport. It was returned to me along with my other documents - if you do this make sure you send by special delivery and include a special delivery envelope in the package for the return of your documents.

The Post Office charges substantially less to certify copies of documents if you wish to send them certified.

Gosh I did not know the Post Office certified passports...yes they only charge £8.75:

How can solicitors get away with charging so much more?
