Re: Settlement Visa from India : Timeline

Post by Kingston » Fri Apr 29, 2016 7:04 am

Hi just to update my spouses settlement visa has now been approved within 16-17 working days:-

Visa Category: Settlement (Married Partner)
Date of Application in VFS Center/Biometrics: 1st April 2016
VFS Center: New Delhi (Shivaji Stadium Metro)
Received at High Commission on: 2nd April 2016 (confirmed by sms)
Email from BHC and VFS on 24th April 2016 - confirming application ready for collection
Any interview date: None
Collection from VFS center: 26th April 2016
Visa Approval Status: approved entry stamp given 1st July -31st July 2016 (requested entry 1st July 2016)

So a great relief application approved without any headaches. Also am satisfied they stamped the correct date range that I required. You can state a date up to 90 days ahead of your application.

I had provided in addition to my wife's application form the following; basically 3 main points you need to satisfy them:-
Funds:-
- proof of income (in my case savings of 60k in UK ISA and 10k in current account alone were sufficient - no details of my employment were sent).
Accommodation:-
- letter from mother in support of application and advising I have my own double room in our family house along with council tax and utility bill. Solicitors letter for discharge of mortgage from back in 2001.
- mortgage statement and council tax/utility of my own flat. Original letter from solicitors at time of purchase in 2002.
Maintain relationship proof:-
- One photo from our marriage ceremony in May 2013 carried out at Arya Samaj New Delhi. I found it easy from here to obtain paperwork.
- Printout from ICICI bank my wife's statement since May 2013 and all money I transfer to her account all had my name attached hence funds sent to her almost every month of 20K RS.

Also please note:-
- I did not send any communication proof between us at all; only regular money transfer to her account from my own ICICI bank account done online and referenced with my name so every transfer had my name.
- My wife was refused two UK visitor applications in 2013 as they were not satisfied of her returning back to India! I advised this in the covering letter stating that at the time we had planned to split our time living both in UK and India but as this was not possible we have now decided to apply for settlement.
- Included photocopy of my visa stamp highlighted for the visit during marriage.
- Included photocopy and original boarding pass for my visit to see her last year.

I hope this all helps for any of you newly applying.

Thanks so much for this.
W.r.t. your (sponsors) passport - are black and white photocopies of all stamped/relevant pages acceptable?
Thanks,

Hi Itachi, current processing times in Delhi according to VFS weekly updates on their website is showing 16-20 days; hence mine took 17 days. I would give it till 13th/16th May with possibility anytime from 9th May.

I only provided black and white photocopies of everything. I did have my (sponsor) UK passport certified as seen by a solicitor in Hounslow UK for 5GBP and sent a photocopy of of the certified paper made at solicitors. This was just incase at a nominal cost although not sure if necessary but had read a few posts advising to do so. But better to do this if you are going to pay near 2lacs for visa, health fees, English test and TB costs.

Hi,
Received an email from New Delhi British high commission stating that the application has been processed and will be passed on to VFS. Then received an email and text from VFS that the docs have been posted via blue dart.

Guys so I just got my passport and I have the 30 day visa sticker stamped. My timeline is mentioned below:

Visa Category : FLR(M) Husband
Location : New Delhi
Sponsor Type : Salaried Employee
Online Application : 11/04/2016
Biometrics (VFS) : 18/04/2016
Acknowledgement Email/SMS: Not Received Any'
Email Processed Application from VFS : 09/05/2016 - 11:00pm
Email Processed Application from UKVI : 10/05/2016 - 11:00am
Collected Application : 11/05/2016 - 1pm
Visa Status : Granted for 30 days
Total Time : 16 Working Days

I contacted the UKVI via their email form 3 times on Fridays and they always replied that "It is yet to be assessed".

I received two emails and both of them had a reference number.

Thanks for all the help that I've received from this forum. I'll be posting a complete list of documents that I submitted.

Thanks,

Itachi

Chennai latest times for processing settlement visas are 20 working days. You should get something in that +- 2 days.

Settlement visas are taking 16+ days to process at the Delhi office, you have to wait for a week more

Hi Itachi, do you know where we can get the updated weekly timeline data from?

does anyone know if the same rules apply for visas that were originally refused, then withdrawn and with a new decision to be made has the same waiting day as new applications?

It's available on VFS website. But those timelines are indicative, they don't hold for all cases
