EEA PR FOR european and EU children.

Post by Angie77 » Wed Jun 08, 2016 5:47 pm

I am just in process of filling the application form for my husband who is european living and working in uk over 5 years and our 3 children age 10, 11, 15.
1- Does anyone know how can we provide address proof for the last 5 years from the children? Since they are our dependents.

2- one of the children is my step son who lives with us. According to the guidance note we should provide a written consent from the parent who the child does not live with. Is it really necessary since the child and the sponsor applying for PR are european?

Many thanks

1) School reports.
Medical/appointment letters (doctor/dentist/optician/health clinic & etc).
Bank statements (maybe).

2) Its probably in the generic interest of child protection & etc; if a letter is asked for can you get one?
Can you link to whichever guide you are referring to?

I haven't got anything. Is it really necessary? It seems that this application form format is more flexible with children.

It would take months to get a written consent from his mother as she is abroad.

You need to show the children exist and live with you.
If they have resided in UK for the 5 years necessary to acquire PR (via their EEA sponsor) they must have generated some sort of papertrail!

I haven't seen the guidance you referred to on step-children so can't really comment too much unless you can provide a link to wherever it comes from.
Is it current guidance, old UKBA guidance or just from WWW??

If its likely you need a parent's letter then suggest set it in motion asap.

If you and natural parent do not have sole responsibility and/or parental authority then it could be seen as a reasonable request in the context of child protection.
I had to do something similar for my step-child as step-parents don't have automatic PRA in UK. (And I had to do a road trip into Asia to get that documentation).

After all you are applying for settled status in UK for the child/ren.

If you are referring to the current PR guidance then section 8 does not apply to you.

But section 12 (parental letter or court order/document) seems to apply.
