Assuming you were British (or settled in UK) before child was born...BritishAsh wrote:I am British but my partner is not. She is from outside of the EEA.
My child was born in England and has had his birth registered.
Is he automatically British?
Do I need to register him as British using the MN1 application?
Thank you.
What exactly is the definition of 'settled'?noajthan wrote:

Then your child is too - apply directly for a passport.I am British from birth.
Free from immigration time restrictions, which a British or Irish citizen automatically and immediately is upon entering the UK.BritishAsh wrote:What exactly is the definition of 'settled'?
You do know that that's not necessarily true, don't you?LilyLalilu wrote:Then your child is too - apply directly for a passport.I am British from birth.
As the child was born in the UK after 2006 (see user's other posts) to a British citizen father (assuming of course he's on the birth certificate), I don't see why not.You do know that that's not necessarily true, don't you?
