First time British Passport Application - Documents?

Post by hussaima » Sun Jun 19, 2016 1:57 pm

Hello Guys!

Please can someone shed some light on the below:

We have just received my wifes British Citizenship certificate; ceremony was done on Friday 17th. Now I am looking to make an appointment at the post office for her First Time Passport.

My question, was relating to information required about her parents and the passport support documents - My wife was born in a NON EU country. And her parents born and from a NON EU Country and live there currently.

Question about providing documents; about one or more of the parents; BIRTH CERTIFICATEs or MARRIAGE CERTIFICATE's. Did you guys provide any one of these? If so, was it both in ENGLISH translated along with the original NON English copy?

Second question was, what if my wifes parents actually don't have access to their marriage and birth certificates?
What happens then? We have information on their date of birth, rough marriage dates?

I am slightly confused because, I have a friend from India, who has his passport recently - similar case - and all he did was provide the details on the application form - HE DID NOT GIVE ANY PARENTS BIRTH OR MARRIAGE CERTIFICATE?? Is that possible?

Can someone explain the above both question's please.

Many Thanks in advance : )

Adult naturalised citizens do not have to submit any parents' nor grandparents' documents.

Check the guidance:

Why are you looking at Table B? It is not relevant to naturaslised citizens applying for a first British passport.

Read Point two, last line, on page 12 and 13 again.

You have misunderstood the Table.

Take a look at section for people who have been naturalised as you state wife has been naturalised.
When you have been naturalised or registered as British

The rest does not apply to her!

It's a general purpose form for many types of applicants.

Why would such documents be needed - wife already has proof she is naturalised as per the certificate.
(She did not become a citizen by ancestry).

If you don't know the various dates to enter on the form state "Unknown" or "Not applicable for naturalised applicant".

Hi,

I am going through the Joint Citizenship and Passport application service. In this case I am technically not yet Naturalized, am I expected to provide grand father documents?

Thanks in advance for you help.
