Emmigrating to Canada Question!

Post by shadowfoot17 » Fri Jan 04, 2008 1:17 am

I am a Canadian citizen living in England. I have been living here with my partner since August 21, 2006. We are now ready to apply for his emmigration to Canada but have two questions before we submit his application.

1) He has a loan out (under £2000) and we were wondering if that would effect the application process. Should we wait and pay off the loan before applying or will it not have any effect on the process at all? (the debt will be cleared before we leave, but we would like to put the forms in now)

2) If, by chance, he does get rejected... is there a set time you have to wait before applying again?

Thank You in advance for your help!

Also, if anyone has any useful phone numbers where you can actually talk to a PERSON (not to a stupid machine that tells you to press '1' for service in english), I would be ever grateful! (In the UK or Canada)

Thanks!

1. Have a look at the application packages from http://www.canada.org.uk and http://www.cic.gc.ca to see if they ask about debts/loans. The only impact I can see is that it might have a bearing on his ability to establish himself in Canada.

2. No time limit, but obviously the reason for refusal would need to be addressed before any reapplication.

How long have you been in the U.K. and are you also a British citizen?

I have been here for a year and a half and no, I am not a British citizen. I am a Canadian Citizen. We have had the forms all printed out for a little while now.

I finally got to talk to an actual person and a company the other day! The lady I spoke to said any loans shouldn't have any effect on the application at all. (it only took 14 calls to get a REAL person!)

Can I ask who you spoke to? I'm in the same situation with my partner (he's Canadian, I'm a Brit and he wants to sponsor me) Like you, I'm sick of listening to machines who don't tell me what I need to know!!

Thanks in advance!
