PR application EU citizen

Hi, I'm planning on applying for PR soon, and gathering documentation. This is my timeline, can anyone clarify whether I need to apply under retained right of residence OR not? I think I'm better off applying on my own, but for the first 6 months out of the total 5 years my work right was conditioned to my ex partner's.

Here's my timeline:
May 2011 - ex partner moved to UK with pink card (AWS card). He's been working continuously since.
June 2011 - we moved to the UK (myself and our child); I applied for a blue card as an unmarried partner
June 2011- Sep 2011 - I continued to work remotely for my overseas employer, paying taxes there but living in the UK
Sep 2011 I got the 'dependent' blue card
Oct 2011 started a job in the UK
Jan 2012 I got a highly skilled blue card in my own right; I applied because our relationship was going bad

In 2012 my ex moved out and we both worked continuously since then.

Now, I've been living in the UK since June 2011 and working in the UK since Oct 2011. I think I can apply now, but what do I need to submit as documentation for that period June 2011-Dec 2011?

Sorry forgot to say, we're all EU2 (Romanian citizens). Only in Jan 2014 restrictions were lifted for EU2, that's why we had to go through the trouble with AWS and blue cards.

Apply in own right - in October 2016.
Stated facts suggest your PR clock really started in UK in Oct 2011.

Thanks, the thing is, that first blue card that I got in Sep 2011 was a 'dependent' card. When I applied, I stated I moved to the UK in June 2011 and joined my (now) ex. So for that period of June 2011-Dec 2011 when we were living together as a family, with our child, I'd still have to submit proof that we lived with him, right? Such a complicated application.

I got my independent 'highly skilled' card only in Jan 2012.

PS. There's also a question about benefits... why are they asking that? The only benefit I ever applied for is child benefit, and that was backtracked to Jun 2011 (NB: this was HMRC's decision) when I applied in Sep 2011, after my blue card dependent application was approved. I'm not getting CHB anymore, as income is too high. How does this affect my application???

It seems too messy. Especially as you separated.

Suggest use Jan 2012 - Jan 2017 then, again all in own right.

The UK form goes above and beyond EU law in its questions. You could use an earlier (simpler) form; (the current monster form is not a legal requirement).
Benefits are not an issue for you.

Thanks a lot, this is very useful. There are two things I don't understand though, the simplified form is not askng me to list any entries/exits from the UK during the past 5 years, is that info not needed then?

Also question 1.10 is asking 'date you last entered the UK', shouldn't that be 'date you first entered UK'?

You have to prove your residency in UK for 5 years.
if you had absences you can provide that information in a cogent cover letter.

(If you were feeling hardcore the whole application could be made by letter).

Suggest answer the question as it is stated.
If its a concern check some of the other forms in the archive, see if its the same on them.

Now that's tempting - to apply with a letter I was actually thinking about it. I've worked continuously for one employer since Oct 2011, so I'm thinking the 'highly skilled' blue card, P60s, council tax bills, and perhaps a school letter for my child would be enough evidence. Plus photos, passports, child's birth certificate and £130

Last question though. I don't have custody of my child, I mean there's no paperwork just a verbal agreement between me and my ex. Do I need to get ex's signature to apply for PR for our child? (how about for citizenship?)

I'd suggest a form gives you structure.
Anything missing could lead to refusal. Caseworkers don't run around and join the dots for you.

You need proof of id, residency, qualified person, absences within limits and relationship to dependent/s.

Check the PR guidance on children & custody.

Registration (not naturalisation) of a minor is a whole different ballgame; much more info required.
Start with place of birth and DoB in relation to your possible date of PR.
A chat and a handshake may not cut it for registration, it depends on precise details of the case.
