ILR Status, Applying for British passport

Hey all, I was glad to find this useful forum after searching everywhere and calling various government/councils but still unable to find the information I require, so hoping someone one here can shed some light as I am desperate now.
My current status is :-

-Indefinite leave to remain on an Indian passport (held ILR for last 8years ) (Lived in UK since 1998)
-Have the English qualifications for Life in the UK
-Passed the Life in the UK test

Am I right in thinking I need to fill in the AN form for naturalisation + British passport form?

I am also looking to change my Surname, Would you recommend me doing this after I have received my british passport OR could this be done in the process of the application ( I understand I will need to apply for a deedpoll)

What English qualification do you have? The English language requirement and LIUK are two separate things and requirements.

Yes, if you apply through NCS you complete both if you want to do the joint citizen and passport application. If you only want to do citizenship, you only complete form AN and passport application will be separate once you are British and have attended your ceremony.

Strongly recommend you do this AFTER you eventually get your British passport. If you choose to do it before, you will have to change your foreign passport too before applying for citizenship.

I have a ESOL Skills for Life ( Speaking and Listening) (QCF)
Will this be sufficient?

Hi, Thanks for the speedy reply.

1. The test was done May 2015, It says Pearson Edexcel level 1 Award at the top. ( this is what I was recommended by a local test centre)

2. I have checked the local council and they have a NCS so will go with that.

I am so glad I asked on here as I would never have known about this, I will be going back to the place to get this updated.

I will now get this final piece of the puzzle and send the application off using nationality check service via council.

I do have another question which is regarding my sisters passport, she has indian passport but she has a long stay permit and not ILR, Will she need to apply for ILR first or can we apply using the long stay permit, time in uk is 10+ years.

Just asked her, Its a permanent resident card for UK on an indian passport

Permanent Residence is the same as ILR but PR is gained through the EEA route whereas ILR is obtained through the UK immigration route. Is she a family member of an EU citizen? What is her full immigration history?

Oh okay, She was born in India, Father is Portuguese who moved to the UK in the 90s (had a Portuguese passport back then ) and now holds a british passport.

If she has permanent residency, if that is what the sticker in her passport says, then she can apply for citizenship too.

Yes it says permanent residency for UK, So she wont need to apply for the ILR?

We come to stay with my father in the UK, For some reason I was granted the ILR and she was given the PR.
I will let her know that she won't have to apply for ILR for the naturalisation and british passport.

She just needs to sort out the B1 etc + Life in the UK test.

I have just booked my Grade 5 B1 Test for Wednesday

Thank you once again for all your help and without you guys, It would of seriously delayed my application as I would of went to the NCS only to find that my B1 is no longer valid.

Hopefully I will pass the B1 and when I have that will proceed with the NCS and then the final wait for my British passport

As long as your test providers is on the HO approved list, you should be fine.

I picked "Technology" , The examiner was cracking up with laughter after I finished explaining how driverless cars work.

Ha yes, I chose photography for mine as I am a photographer. When I waked in to the test room I said straight away "this shouldn't be difficult; I'm a native English speaker"

It got quite technical and at one point I was explaining the inner workings of a digital SLR camera and how things like phase detection auto focus work.
