Visa for Husband

Post by emilysenart » Tue Jan 15, 2008 7:51 pm

My husband and I currently live in America, I am english and i moved here 7 years ago to marry him, he's american. We want to move back to England in May and are getting ready to apply for his visa and I had a couple of questions.
1) We both have jobs here and have about $7000 (3500 GBP) to take with us although with the jobs we do (i am an admin assistant and he works in a jail) we dont have the types of jobs where we can get them before we are there. Will this be enough money to get us approved to go?
2)We are going to be living with my parents for as long as we can stand to when we move there, they have a 3 bedroom house and it will be just us and them so i dont think overcrowding will be a problem. I understand that they need to write a letter stating we can stay with them, what does it need to say and should they add something about they will help us with money so we dont need to collect benefits?

any other help/hints would be greatly appreciated!

Because u had been married for 7years, u dont need to go through spouse visa with 2 years probation before u can get ILR.

Regarding your fund 3.5k, it really depends on how the ECO look at it. Some people just have 2k, its still alright. Most important is how u prove that u wont claim any benefit. How u prove this is by showing them u will have a job when u live in uk. U can try looking for jobs and maybe can get offer letter from new employer / get some recruitment cut out from newspaper/internet. Show them your certificates too & resume/cv. Maybe u can get your current employer to write u a recomendation letter.

For the accomodation part, I think it shouldnt be a problem. Just get the letter from your parents. If they own the property, best u can the grant / letter from bank where they kept their grant. If its rent, get the landlord write u the letter. Take some pictures of the house.

Even if your parents going to help you with the finances, ECO wouldnt take it too seriously in this because this fund is for temporary only. But no lose to write it down as well and get your parents bank statement attach together if u can.

Good luck!
