MN1 biometric enrolemnt Family out of UK

Post by sumitt » Wed Jul 27, 2016 7:54 pm

Hi,
On 12/07/2016, I submitted application for my daughter under MN1 under "UK born child parents became settled" category. as my family was planning to go to India, NCS service was used as per recommendations on the forum because my family could get their passports. it was also advised to keep a gap between application and travel of around 3-5 working days (which I did). They had to go to attend a family wedding. As per plan, my family left to India on 20/07/2016. everything went smooth.
Today, I have received acknowledgement of the application. but it also asks my wife (who was signee on the form) to go for biometric enrolment with in 15 days. Now, they are in India and they will come back on 11/09/2016. Should biometrics not have done at NCS centre if it was needed? what options I have? The form mentions to write back to Home Office (on a given email) for reasons if biometric is not possible in 15 days. I can write back, But I am not sure if (first of all) travelling outside UK is allowed in this case and/or if attending wedding in India is good enough reason for not being present for biometrics. will I lose the complete fee?

p.s my daughter (applicant) is only 2 years 4 months old . Not sure if this helps.

Please help.
Regards,
Sumit

Biometrics is always required.
Enrolment is done at PO not at the optional NCS.

If first window is missed a second letter with a second (10 day period) window will give applicant a second chance before fee and application is forfeit.

thanks for prompt reply. Does that mean that the application will be rejected and there is no other way out as my family shall be back on 11/09/2016. cannot i request home office to delay the application and give some grace period considering that my family has gone to India. Is there any provision like this?

The application will be rejected as invalid if biometrics are not enrolled.

My understanding is MN1 fee is lost but you may be lucky and I may be wrong.

The MN1 guidance (which you were given link to in your earlier questions) is very clear on the need for bio enrolment; section 6.

All you can do now is write to HO and hope for the best.

Thanks noajthan

Last couple question, Sorry for bothering you again.

1) Is there any guidance or procedures ( if there is possibility) of requesting HO to postpone bio metric to future.

2) If application is rejected, does that have a bearing on future applications.

Sumit

Not to the best of my knowledge. There is a timeframe for biometrics submission, failing which the application is refused and the fees are forfeit.

Not in the case of MN1 under Section 1(3), which is an entitlement. The fees of course are forfeit.

You can get into the head of the caseworker who will manage your failure to enrol biometrics, via example HO guidance, here:

Hi Sumitt,

Sorry I just saw the thread. My wife applied for citizenship on 27/06/2016 and travelled same day to India so there is no issues in terms of travel while application is in progress.

I emailed FurtherNationalityEnquiries@homeoffice.gsi.gov.uk, NationalityBiometrics@homeoffice.gsi.gov.uk them to send a Biometric letter to give it in India as she travelled to India and will not return till September.

After 3 weeks of my email I received a letter from NationalityBiometricsOverseas@homeoffice.gsi.gov.uk on my wife email and she gave the Biometric in Hyderabad yesterday without paying any fees...... :)

I guess there is bit misunderstanding that we cannot give biometric overseas but biometric team has confirmed to me that they will provide the letter to enrol biometric overseas as when i sent an enquiry email to the team.

Give it a try and the only issue I see is delay in processing of application as you enrol biometric late.

Thanks

Hi Pelican,

Thanks for being harbinger of a good news. it is so relieving. wrote to the email provided in letter and advised them the same. However, i am still awaiting their response. but i have not told them the location in india. do i need to let them know that? Also is it done in VFS?

It shall be great if they can send me that. I need to check her email perhaps she received that.

many thanks to you.

No need to mention location as you can select the location while booking the appointment. Yes they gave a link to VFS where you can register and book an appointment with the reference.
vfsglobal.co.uk/Overseas/Pages/Login.aspx. You can register and keep things ready.

Thanks

Hi Pelican,

thanks and sorry to bother again. can you please advise on the steps. What i understand is I have to register for an Appointment in VFS. As per advise i can take it in advance (may be somewhere end of August) leaving some time for the email to arrive. My family is in Chandigarh and there is a VFS there. so it should be fine. Hope fully it shall work out smooth.

few last questions: 1) is there special type of appointment for just giving biometrics and is there a fee?
2) Also i have only emailed to "NationalityBiomterics" and not to "FurtherNationalityEnquiry" just because that was mentioned in the letter.

Will have a look at the link.

Many thanks again

Sumit

As far as I have seen you can book the appointment once you receive the letter as mostly the slot should be available because it is only for biometrics. Thats was the case for my wife appointment in Hyderabad.

1) There is no fees but take two copies of biometric letter as VFS keep one copy for reference. When you book the appointment online it gives you an option and select overseas. The biometric letter explains in details process.
2) Email to "FurtherNationalityEnquiry" just in case as "NationalityBiomterics" do not acknowledge the email. Also cc "NationalityBiometricsOverseas"(I have not done) but might receive the response a bit quickly.

Hi Palican,

I have got the letter from nationality biometrics giving me option to complete the process in next 30 working days either in UK post office or in India. I tried using the VFS website given in the letter for appointment. it seems bit fragile (unless I am doing something wrong). I am reaching the stage to schedule appointment but not able to select anything on calender. Looks bit strange. Also there is not technology support number.

I am wondering if you experienced something like this? I will keep trying otherwise I think 30 working days anyways are enough for my family to come back. they can come back and enrol in UK. However, strangely it is cheaper in india (no fees vs 20 gbp in UK post office).

Regards
Sumit
