1800 £ IHS for Spouse visa ??

Post by Saadat_Irfan » Thu Aug 04, 2016 10:05 am

Hello,

Need urgent help please!

I have mistakenly paid £1800 whereas I should have only paid £600 for my wife's visa.

Unfortunately I selected the option of 'Joining someone in the UK' as I thought my wife is joining me in UK as her sponsor (I am on ILR already in the UK) but when I saw the amount in Pakistan Ruppees I didn't realise it was that much so ended up paying more than £1800.

I know people get refunds if they pay more and their visa length is not long enough or if they are refused the visa, but how do I get this amount of around £1200 refunded? Is there a contact number anyone aware of or any other way of getting this refunded? Please shed some light as my bank account has been emptied because of my silly mistake.

Many thanks in advance!

https://www.gov.uk/healthcare-immigrati ... on/refunds

The HO estimate 90 days to refund a payment, but according to reports on the forum this can take longer.

Which option should be selected for getting £600?

Well as you paid double, it would make sense to choose the option 'you paid twice'

The applicant should choose 'Apply alone'.

Thank you for all your input, so what i understand (and please correct me if i am wrong) I do not need to cancel the existing application with extra IHS paid, and I can continue and pay for the application fee now and book biometric appointment and finish the process? The partial refund will be done eventually at some point.

My main concern is that my application won't have an impact as I have not paid exactly £600 which is the correct amount to be paid.

The only issue with the application would be if you had underpaid. The HO are more than happy to accept an overpayment and keep you waiting for a refund. :|

Ok thanks again for the prompt response Casa, I guess I just have to wait now for the partial refund whenever they do it. I just don't want any impact on the application because I overpaid. :?

I think they invest further the overpayments to earn interests/profits and that's why have heavily delayed refund system. 90 days of refund is too late, it's unfair.

Hardly likely; have you checked UK interest rates lately?!
