AN approval takes time when you are usually under following categories ( please note i am not saying its for all )
1) 10 Year route
2) Work as student
3) have Tax issues with HMRC
4) Conviction , police matters
5) gaps in immigration history
6) Points on License
some of these categories can lead to refusal as well
For clean cases like
1) 5 years TIER1 category , TIER2
2) No tax issues
3 Tax in good conditions
4) Overall clear immigration history
You still have to wait for 6 months in either case but if you go through clean cases you will end up within 3-4 months . It's my opinion and as i said earlier it depends on case to case
Good luck
HO will not entertain if you contact BEFORE 6 months.
I can see most of people who applied around the same time received their approval by end of June...
If the wait is more than 6 months, which number can i use to contact them ?
You cannot really read anything at all into HO response or lack of response.holaiker wrote:I can see from HO's website:

If i have not received anything within the past 4 months, does that mean at least my case is not considered as COMPLEX and should be completed within standard service time frame ?
They will write to you within 3 months after the 6 month period has passed.Casa wrote:The HO won't respond to any enquiries made before the end of the 6 month period.

Your application has not been with HO six months yet, which is probably what you will be told when you call. And they won't give you any projected outcome date uf your application has not been decided. Other people's timelines are merely indicative. As we don't have access to your record on HO systems we can't say anything else.
Noone can really advise on your mail delivery.holaiker wrote:The reason I'm asking is because I'm worried that it might have something to do with mail delivery. if my case has been approved but the letter wasn't delivered, whos gonna tell me the result? Has anyone run into an similar situation before?

Do you know the mailman/woman?
Is s/he overworked?
Is it likely s/he's throwing bags of mail away or stashing them in their loft?
Check the copy of your application form - is your address correct there?
Have you changed address recently?
Do you have shared front door / shared mail box?
Are you receiving other mail?
Have you lost other mail?
Do envelopes look as if they've been tampered with?
HO is uncommunicative at best of times and your 6 months is not yet up.holaiker wrote:I have not changed my address
I have previously received biometric letter from HQ without any problem, so the address should be correct.
thats why im asking if anyone has experienced anything similar before.I know the postman, but how can he remember a letter that was not recorded. He delivered hundreds of letters & parcels in my area.

(In my wife's case we heard nothing at all, no communication whatsoever, from the beginning until the end).
Nothing to be done but sit tight really.
Around 4.5 months. Last year.holaiker wrote:May I ask how long your wife waited before the result was received? & was it this year?
