British father. Son born abroad.

Post by gabu » Mon Aug 15, 2016 12:38 pm

Good morning,

Could you please confirm which is the process to register a child born abroad in 2011? His father is a British Citizen and lives in the UK. The son lives abroad with his mother and they are planning to travel to the UK to join him.

Can we register the birth or we can directly apply for his passport? Which is the best option for him to enter into the UK?

Thanks.

Is father British other than by descent? When did father become British? (if not born British?)

Then apply for son's passport directly as he is British (by descent).

Sorry if I am bothering....

Only please confirm if I can apply directly for his passport without previous registration.

Thanks a lot!
