Updating Employment Change and Addition to Family

Post by chaudhryis » Fri Jan 18, 2008 10:08 am

Hi,

I'll appreciate if someone could help me with this.

I filled for immigration in May 2006 (Before the application forms changed). Three months after that we had a son and I changed my employer. Now this has'nt been communicated or updated to my files at the London office.

I would like to update both my son's details (he is 16 months now) and my employer details. Which forms should I use and how can I explain the delay to the immigration office. Kindly suggest.

Thanks.

.

You are posting in the Canada forum, but referencing the London office.

Please confirm which country your questions relate to.

As far as explaining the delays, maybe you could explain it here and see if there are any opinions on where it is strong &/or weak?

16 months is a long time. And, I would assume that you probably had some idea your son was due for a few months before then ..?

Are you saying you changed your employer in or about July 2006 and you are just now considering getting that information updated ..?

Not going to be easy to explain.

What do the conditions of your application specify? Are you given any time frames to keep your information updated ..?

Very often it is 30 days, although in can be ten days or up to 90.

My Refrence was to London office for Canadian Immigration.

Honestly this would be my neglegance of its importance. I wanted to update this information along with my financial statements at a later time. Now I was planning to do all that.

Did I mess up big time or do you think their might be a way out.

Thanks.

Honestly, I don't know. It could be a complete disaster under the worst-case scenario. Maybe they will require a new application.

I don't think so, but I don't know.

I'd say the first step is search up the application documents and find out what conditions are attached to making an application.

You may very well be allowed to update without penalty at this time. If they set limits, then you need to know what those limits are and what the consequences of missing them are.

Look at the originals that you submitted; if new policies are more stringent than when you applied, you can argue to come under the originals. Chances are good you could make that stick.

If the newer policies are more lenient, you can argue to come under them .. but that might be a little bit tougher.

My gut feeling on this is that they're going to be concerned about the change in employer, which may mean a new application. But, adding another person to the immigration process is pretty significant, too.

Sorry I can't help more than that. Canadian immigration is not my specialty.
