55, disabled & desperate to be with children & grand

Hi All,
Briefly, I am 55 y/o & my wife 53. I had Polio (scoliosis) as a child but have work as a partner & manager for the past 25yrs. Both our sons (our only children) & their wives have been resident in U.K for 5 years. They came on WP, but oldest stayed through A.V, & youngest married a Brit. The eldest has two children, & works as an engineering consultant, owns a Property Investment co, & several properties. The youngest has works as a sales consultant, & owns his own home.
· What I need to know is how I can go about applying for compassionate ILR? We are extremely lonely.
· Would I be allowed to work for my eldest son?
· Would my disability have a negative affect on our chances?
· We are from South Africa, & it is becoming less & less safe, especially for older folk. Unfortunately, the Mandela era is at an end.
· Both my wife & I believe that it is important for us to have an influence & relationship with our grand children.
· My wife has no family from her side, & my two brothers and one sister can’t help us, as they don’t have the means, & are far from us.

Any help & advice would be greatly appreciated,

Not really possible unless under extremely compassionate grounds and the HO is not noted for it's compassion....

The criteria generally are that u must be over 65 and be wholly dependant on ur sponsor.

I dunno, but it seems the disability has not precluded the OP from working so I guess it's not really an issue.

re: the disability aspect, my current job is reasonably physical & I have developed "post polio syndrome" over the last 15years. which leads to gradual weakening of the muscles. Also due to this I use a respirator (bi-pap machine) to sleep at night (I don;t breathe deeply enough on my own). This does no stop me from doing computer work which I am proficient at.
When I was 15 I had an operation called the "Harrington Rod" procedure, in which they inserted Stainless Steel Rods on either side of my spine & Grafted bone between my vertebra to strengthen my spine. Also they did an experimental operation, during which they took tendons from my mothers leg, & grafted them from hip bone to the opposite rib cage & visa versa in a cross fashion to attempt to give me more spine stability. will this help on compassionate grounds. Thanks for your Help

These are the criteria you need to fulfil, from ukvisa site;

"Can parents, grandparents and other dependent relatives go to live in the UK?
If you are a widowed parent or grandparent aged 65 or over, or parents or grandparents travelling together and one of you is 65 or over, you may qualify if:
you are completely or mainly financially dependent on children or grandchildren living and settled in the UK
you have no other close relatives in your own country to help you
your children or grandchildren can support you without needing help from public funds, and
your children or grandchildren have enough accommodation, which they alone own or live in, where you can live without needing any help from public funds.



If you are a parent or grandparent under the age of 65, you may qualify if:

you are living in the most exceptional compassionate circumstances
you are completely or mainly financially dependent on children or grandchildren living and settled in the UK
you have no other close relatives in your own country to help you
your children or grandchildren can support you without needing help from public funds, and
your children or grandchildren have enough accommodation, which they alone own or live in, where you can live without needing any help from public funds."
