Converting Premium service to Standard postal service

Post by gre.bm691 » Mon Aug 22, 2016 9:29 pm

Hello
I am in the process of applying for my wife's FLR(M). Long story short, I am in a situation wherein I want to block a premium service for the application but only use it should the need arise. If things fall in place, I might not need to use the service. Obviously, I would like to save the money if possible.

I wanted to know if I could convert the premium service application to a standard one. The reason I ask is the refund instructions on the website state that the entire amount will be refunded if the appointment is cancelled 5days before the appointment. This refund includes Application fees and the IHS.

I have already paid the IHS as I was booking the appointment.
- What if I want the Home office to retain the IHS and the application fee?
- If I apply for a refund, will I be allowed to pay for the IHS fee again given my details are already logged on the system?

I was under the impression that the NHS Surcharge is paid for separately from the Application fee and the Premium Service fee.

If you withdraw the application fee , the NHS Surcharge details will remain

The application fee will be refunded in full. I think you are looking to get the extra £500 paid for the premium fee but it's not possible as far as I know. You can only get a full refund and apply via post. You can pay the IHS fee again. Use the new reference on the postal application. Like Obie said IHS fee is paid separately and you'd probably remember when you booked and you'll get refund of it separately. Remember if you end up paying the IHS twice you can get a refund for any of those.

Thanks Jatpunjabi and Obie.

I agree with Jatunjabi. The website clearly states that they will refund the entire amount. My only concern is could IHS be issued immediately after I cancel my premium service. Would system perform any sort of validation while accepting the payment?

If that is not a problem, I guess its safe to book the premium service for now. If I do cancel my premium service, I could get an new IHS and apply by post.
