Temp work in canada

Post by tark » Sun Jan 06, 2008 9:19 pm

Last year i went to canada for the summer and worked with a friend for cash. This year i want to do the same, however i am thinking about staying on for a longer period of time and doing some other work, but not for him, for example in bars, pubs etc.

I am 20, british citizen, in full time employment and single.

What kind of documentation would i need, if any. i would prefer it to be above board, i.e have a bank account. any help would be fantastic

You would need a work permit. http://www.cic.gc.ca
What you did previously was illegal.

Have you thought of the BUNAC scheme?

Hi,
Im just about to leave for Canada with a working holiday visa under the BUNAC scheme. BUNAC working holiday scheme is for both students and non-students, but the non-student visas run out much much quicker than the students so be quick! the 2008 applications are already open for this year. It can take around 2 months from start to finish to recieve your visa and you will need a police background check which in turn takes a further 40 days to process and costs £10. The Visa costs £180 ( to BUNAC) and a further £70 to the Canadian consolate (if i remember correctly). Only other thing is that you can only have both the student and non-student working holiday visas once in your lifetime and you have to be under 35 i think, so you should be fine.
good luck! jimmy

.

It would also be a good idea of getting into the habit of not using words such as "work" or "pay" or "job" when referring to any of your previous activities while in Canada. Should any documentation of such activities ever reach immigration ... in many countries, not just Canada ... it can be used as a basis to deny you entry or any other type of visa.

It's that serious.

Meaning also that using your previous activities on a CV or as a reference would be a Bad Idea.
